A New Jersey resident is accusing an American Airlines flight attendant of purposely spilling red wine on her wedding dress during a flight in 2015.
According to NJ.com, a lawsuit filed in federal court Tuesday claims Yewande Oteh of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was flying from Philadelphia International Airport to Montego Bay, Jamaica, in August 2015 when the incident took place.
Oteh claims that a flight attendant on the plane conspired with another crew member to stain the woman’s wedding dress with red wine while it was stowed in an overhead bin.
The incident began when Oteh was told to remove her wedding dress from a checked bag and informed that there would be room to hang the dress on the aircraft. Once on the plane, though, she was told that that would be impossible and the attendant reportedly became agitated.
The attendant found an empty overhead bin in first class and placed Oteh’s dress inside. After returning to her seat, Oteh claims she saw the attendant and other crew members open the overhead bin and place something inside.
When the flight arrived in Jamaica, Oteh found her dress covered in stains and became distraught. As a result, she canceled wedding events with guests and is now suing American Airlines for $300,000.
Officials from American Airlines confirmed they received the lawsuit and are currently reviewing it, but did not provide additional details. Read more...
